Week two of College Football:
Here are a few of the games I’m looking forward to:
#4 Texas @ #9 Michigan
A week 2 potential CFB Playoff matchup, the Longhorns head to Ann Arbor for the first time ever to take on the defending national champions. The only other matchup between the two being a 38-37 Texas win in the 2005 Rose bowl. Michigan, who is under scrutiny of late due to allegations against the program, looks to get the first signature win of Sherrone Moore’s head coaching career. Texas, behind returning QB Quinn Ewers are the away favorites heading into the matchup. The Wolverines enter the 2024 season with more question marks than answers, although their rushing attack should still be one of the best in the country. This match-up between two blue bloods sets up to answer many of those early season questions.
Montana @ North Dakota (FCS)
The Montana Grizzlies head to North Dakota to take on the Fightin’ Hawks in a matchup between two 2023 FCS Playoff teams. Montana, who lost in the FCS Championship game to South Dakota State, return six all conference players including most notably, WR Junior Bergen who holds the school record for punt returns and is on the prowl to break the FCS record all-time this season. RB’s Eli Gillman and Nick Ostmo return as one of the best tandems in the nation. North Dakota had a first round exit in the 2023 FCS playoff will rely heavily on returning Junior RB Gavin Ziebarth and SR. RB Isaiah Smith after a roster shakeup following last season.
#19 John Carroll @ #3 UW- Whitewater (Division 3)
An early season top 25 Matchup at the Division 3 level, John Carrol travels to Wisconsin-Whitewater in the opening week of the 2024 season. The alma-mater of Miami Dolphins legendary coach Don Shula, John Carroll opened last season against UW-Whitewater also, losing last years showdown 27-23 in the last few minutes of the game.
Harding University (D2)Season Opener
The National Champion Bison were back in action Thursday night (09/06) against Southern Nazarene in their first action of 2024. Harding cruised to victory on the shoulders of their stellar flex bone option attack finishing with 62 rushes, 554 yards and 7 TD. Here are some offensive highlights below:

Fundamentals: Zone Combo Blocks
In this Chalk Talk, we are discussing the basic terms to know and the key fundamentals to zone blocking combinations. A good zone blocking scheme has the answer for any multitude of problems a defense can present on any given play. The point is that no matter where a defense may align or end up throughout the duration of a zone run play, there will in theory be an offensive lineman there to block them.
Linebacker Gap Fits vs Split Zone
Split Zone has become a staple in many offenses ranging from youth to professional football. The main issues presented when defending against any run scheme is maintaining Gap Integrity throughout the duration of the play
Single Back Power
Today’s modern offenses often come with modern challenges, one of which may be finding creative ways to incorporate downhill, “old school”, smash-mouth football into a spread offense. Other times, there may be personnel hurdles that must be overcome or (bent-in-your-favor) to get the most out of both your players and the schemes you want to base your offense around. Today, we’re talking about running Single back Power from 11/12 Personnel.

Bill Callahan & The Titans OL
This is a spur of the moment chalk talk I felt compelled to have after watching the film from the Tennessee Titans final preseason game vs. New Orleans. I am thoroughly impressed and giddy about the Tennessee Titans offensive line play.
